IN A WORD

I am a literary artist. Words are my paintbrushes. My canvas is a simple piece of paper or computer screen. I have a passion for words and the power of language. Words can appeal to all senses. Through words, one can conjure up the sweet, vanilla smell of perfume or the raw putrid odor of sewage. Through words, one can feel the heat of the searing sun on a hot summer’s day or the frigid sting of the cold; one can hear the soft, gentle voice of an infant or the shrill screams of an old person in pain. One can taste the sour tang of a Sweet Tart or savor the rich milk chocolate of a Hershey’s Bar. Words can inspire violence or romance. They can transport one to a remote place and time. Words can cause eyes to tear and lips to quiver in overwhelming sorrow or joy. Words can alter reality.  Through words, I have traveled the world, space and under the sea. I have felt what it is like to be in love though I have never actually experienced being in love. I can think of no better life for myself than one where I can impact the lives of others through words. Copywriters have the power to mold the perspectives of others. With a few words, if only for a short moment, one can view the world through the eyes of the copywriter. While it has been said that “a picture is worth a 1000 words,” it is equally true that words alone can “paint a picture” more vivid and full of life than a 1000 pictures could ever convey.
